About me
Hi, I’m Dr Natalie Walker-Samuel, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist.
Since 2015, I’ve worked in private practice supporting children, young people, and families through Oak Trees Psychology, a service dedicated to child and family wellbeing.
I specialise in helping families navigate struggles in their relationships, with attachment, with the impact of developmental trauma, child to parent violence or where parents are finding it hard to ‘reach’ their child. I’m especially passionate about empowering parents and carers to strengthen relationships and improve family dynamics.
How I can help:
I offer a range of services including psychological assessment, formulation, therapy, consultation, training, and supervision available both face-to-face in Reigate, Surrey, and online for greater flexibility.
My experience spans across the NHS, charities, and private sectors, working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), with adoption and care-experienced children (Parents and Children Together), and in therapeutic residential care settings (The Caldecott Foundation). At the Keys Group, I led the South East clinical team, providing psychological input across children's residential homes.
Whether you're a parent seeking support, a professional looking for consultation or supervision, or simply exploring options contact me to see how we can work together.
My approach to working with each child, young person and family is tailored to their own needs, struggles and strengths. I often work with parents and children together to address the difficulties they are experiencing and to support communication and relationships, I offer parents sessions at the start of our work to support this.
My work is underpinned by my understanding of child development (social, emotional, cognitive), attachment, trauma and psychological well-being. I have undertaken training in several different therapeutic approaches such as Mentalisation, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Non-Violent Resistance, Trauma focused CBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT). Sometimes I use an integrative approach, drawing on ideas and tools from different therapies.
My approach
Clinical Psychologists specialise in working with children, young people and adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties and distress.
Clinical Psychologists are trained in several different assessment methods and therapeutic approaches enabling therapy to be tailored to individual needs.
Clinical psychologists have completed extensive training to doctoral level on an approved university training programme. Prior to this, an undergraduate degree must have been achieved at a high level and usually, as in my case, prior experience working in child and adult mental health or related settings is completed.
The title ‘Clinical Psychologist’ is protected by the Health and Care Professions Council, ensuring that those using it are appropriately qualified.
